XhibitTags™

The XhibitTags™ integrated RFID exhibit system provides new insights into your existing exhibits and adds visitor-personalized learning features to new exhibits. XhibitTags™ give visitors the option of interacting with enhanced features of your exhibitions anonymously and privately while allowing you to perform ongoing analysis and evaluation of exhibit usage.

The XhibitTags™ System ties into the XhibitNet Evaluation Support System, an online exhibit usage data collection and reporting application hosted on a secure web server. XhibitNet Evaluation Support provides password-protected access to extensive quantitative exhibit usage data gathered from networked XhibitTag™ sensor-enhanced exhibits or multimedia kiosks.

Remote Kiosk
Management

Nothing disappoints a visitor more than an exhibit they cannot use. Remote Kiosk Management allows museum personnel and maintenance providers to receive status information, start, reboot, shut down and upgrade the system and its software components without the need to be in proximity to the exhibit or the museum. Log files and status reports complement the XhibitNet Evaluation Support System.

The core XhibitNet System consists of 5 integrated elements

Xhibit Overfaces

Meaningful, multi-sensory discovery experiences are enhanced through integration of innovative user interfaces with database-driven exhibit content. Xhibit Overfaces include networked Scribble-Screen kiosks, DataGlyph® imprinted objects, TactaPad™ immersive touchpad interfaces, wireless interaction appliances, and RFID tagged tangible objects such as XBooks.

Xperience Manager

The Xperience Manager handles the transfer of all visitor log data, multimedia content and personal digital artifacts to a MySQL database server and to the ArtifaX, Xhibit CMS and XWeb Managers. The Xperience Manager is built using the Microsoft .net framework running on Windows 2003 Server. All core portions of the XhibitNet System™ can also run on Linux using the Mono framework.

ArtifaX Manager

As visitors interact with Xhibit Overfaces, the ArtifaX Manager uploads and processes all of their personal digital artifacts to the database. The ArtifaX Manager then converts and resizes the source artifacts in preparation for upload to the XWeb Manager and display on visitors' personal websites.

Content Manager

Topical exhibit content is resource intensive to keep up-to-date. The Xhibit content management system, or CMS, supports efficient collaborative workflow and asset management for multimedia exhibit and website production and editing. Integrated RSS feeds automate frequent content changes to both exhibits and the XWeb Manager.

XWeb Manager

The XWeb Manager works with the Xhibit CMS to assemble and display personalized content to visitors' websites. XWeb Manager constructs an ASP.net website on demand from a MySQL database or other data source and runs on Windows 2000/2003 with the .net framework or on Linux with the Mono framework.
